World Peace Is Now is an organization founded by Gary Oltman, a licensed Religious Science Practitioner and ministerial student. His focused efforts on a peaceful world are reflected in his mission statement: "We are creating it; we're not waiting for it."
Religious Science, presently known as International Centers for Spiritual Living is grounded in the works of Ernest Holmes, a spiritual leader and teacher of the 21st Century. Simply put, the philosophy professes that the Divine expresses through all of its creation and that each individual creates his life experience by his use of the Universal Law of Cause and Effect.
Based on his belief that we are the cause to our experience, Oltman offers a way of fostering world peace beginning with the self.
Adding Positive Energy to the World
When asked what stirred him to create an organization for peace, Oltman said, "Seems like in every corner of the world I found injustice that really made me angry. Because of my spiritual beliefs I know that everything I am looking at is a reflection of what I am feeling. I had to look into the mirror at the anger in me. Was I serving these causes by the negative energy that I was adding to the world?"
Realizing that he could not change the negative effects that had already taken place, he decided to bring everything to the present moment and begin in the now. His answer was that the only thing he could really change was his own consciousness.
"The mental atmosphere that our minds share and everything the world experiences begins in consciousness," he said. "Life is lived from the inside out. I decided that I was going to be about creating a world that doesn't need changing."
Cause for Peace
Paula Kirman in her article, Violence at Home, Violence Abroad, writes, "Encouraging peaceful resolutions to problems that occur in day to day life is one of the most influential things you can do as a peace maker. ...Taking part in peace marches and rallies is not enough. We have to live what we believe."
Oltman says that not being reactive to outside influences and experiences and "living what we believe" takes spiritual practice and this is where daily meditation comes in.
World Peace is Now Offers Spiritual Tools
Oltman offers practical tools for Spiritual Practice on his website, including five minute meditations with very simple instructions, free inspirational talks, peace quotes and other links and resources.
Scheduled group meditative walks are also forthcoming.
The Ripple Effect of One Mind
Oltman is not the only one with a mind on peace consciousness, and according to his theory of the rippling effect one mind focused on a truth, that is a good thing.
The Peace Revolution is another one of the many global groups focused on peace. Mary Desaulniers, in her article, The Peace Revolution, writes "Members of The Peace Revolution is a group of youths from all over the world who have taken on the mission to create a paradigm shift by initiating world peace through inner peace and broadcasting their message to all corners of the earth through their monthly Full Moon Peace Meditation."
Inner Vision for Peace
Oltman asks each individual to "...focus daily on closing your eyes, knowing peace, harmony and love. By doing this, you are focusing on the Cause not the effect. Then, know when you are opening your eyes, you will see a world filled with love, peace and abundance. Then, act accordingly. Action starts with a peaceful consciousness. Your embodiment of peace, empowers the world with peace."
